There is this tutoring center in San Fransisco called 826 Valencia. It was started in 2002 as resource for children/students needing tutoring and support. Because of the massive volunteer help 826 Valencia receives, it is able to offer services free of charge. Involvement civically with our youth is not encouraged enough in America.

I live in western Oregon, in the fertile and wet Willamette Valley, and just north up the Interstate 5 in Portland, another youth focus group exists. Focus the Nation, headed by Garett Brennan, aims to educate, empower, and encourage civic action by our young people to engage in preserving and protecting the environment.

At some point where I live, I want to encourage civic conversation about the way we recycle. I think we can do bettter. I believe we can eliminate the use of many plastics and "throw-aways", re-use a wider range of materials and textiles, and preserve the quality of our water. Just last week the Democrat Herald reported on perceived opinions about plastic grocery bag bans in Linn and Benton counties.

These are some photos of Ronald Borst and fish, the time spanning 15 years. As is my soul, fish and earth are respected, I only take to eat a little- never more. Traces of humans is kept to muddy tracks-NO TRASH, not even butts. The butts go in a ziploc sandwich bag and not to the ocean. Used fishing line goes back in my pack. If we pack a few beers in full, we pack them out when empty. Preserve nature and the animals that belong to it. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND THANK YOU FOR NOT LITTERING.
